Who put the "Out" in Scouts ?
Scouts is about getting out there and having fun. Scouts camp and do stuff. The weather is important but it doesn't stop us hiking and camping. We know how to light fires and cook on fires or stoves. We know how to navigate and read a map. We know how to tie knots and lash poles together - not because we are geeks but because we get to do chariot racing and wipe out the other patrols !
Scouts operate in Patrols with a Patrol Leader. This is your gang and as with any gang you look after each other. You camp together at camp and every week you compete against the other patrols to be the best.
Scouts is all about being able to look after yourself. One of the highlights of the year is the annual Scout Camp. You get to go somewhere for a week or so. No Mum and Dad or annoying brothers or sisters ! And you get to learn camping skills and you will usually do some adventurous activies whilst you are way. And you have a real good laugh.
Many Troops travel abroad to camp with other Scouts and sometimes you get a chance to attend a Jamboree - a huge Scout Camp! Many of our Scouts are going to Cheshires own Jamboree, Chamboree !
