Well, I asked for your replies to who was coming to the Leaders Moot and they poured in - thank you ! The majority were enthusastic about the idea of a get together but July is a hectic month - lots of people doing Scouting activities already, some early birds off on holiday and others already commited to family events..... so good idea, bad date !! Are we going top cancel it ? No, we are going to postpone until September / October time (There is a poll for you to vote for your preferred date here). In the meantime, we do need a plan, so anyone who can spare a couple of hours on July 4th, please come along to Chelford Hq and we will a smaller meeting (no bbq :-( ). Details in DIB next week.

One of my priorities as DC is to develop a District Plan to focus our efforts. Our first plan will be for a year and it will spell out how we are going to “re-establish” Alderley Scout District. I have identified four ambitions:
  • To provide a safe environment for our youth members
  • To recruit new leaders and support both our new and existing leaders
  •  To provide opportunities and events for our youth members that would not otherwise be available
  • To build relationships across the District by working together and having fun.
Are they the right ambitions? Are they too ambitious? How can we achieve them?
I am sure you will have many more suggestions, challenges and questions to add to the debate which is why we will be having the first Alderley Scout Leaders Moot to which you will all be invited. Sounds a bit boring, well relax it won’t be!

I have in mind, a Sunday afternoon in June or July. You will be able to bring your kids and significant other. We’ll have games and other stuff for the kids and we leaders will have a dedicated hour or so on our plan. You will get chance to provide input and challenges and later I will lock the District Team in a room to produce a One Page Plan. Then, off outside for a bbq and some fun. So all being well, we get our plan, we have a laugh, you don’t have to cook dinner because the kids will be stuffed from the bbq and, as they ran round like idiots, they’ll fall asleep as soon as you get home! It’ll be fun, I promise you!

Alderley Scouts announce their new website. "It will be a great aid to good communications across the District and will provide easy access for new members and adult volunteers" said Stephen Buckley (District Commissioner), earlier today. The website will provide up to date calendar and news and in future will also include a gallery so that you can enjoy photos of our members and see the activities they get up to.
